İncirliova sits on the flat plain of the Büyük Menderes valley, a short way west of the provincial capital Aydın. On a map the town is a tight cluster of streets set among farmland. Field boundaries and irrigation lines fan out in every direction, and the gentle slopes of the valley sides stay at a distance to the north.
The name translates roughly as fig plain, which suits a province known across Turkey for its dried figs. From above, orchards and cultivated plots break up the ground around the town into a fine patchwork. The built-up core is marked by a few main axes, with smaller residential lanes filling the spaces between them.
The town also lies on the İzmir to Aydın railway, among the earliest lines built in Anatolia. The track and the parallel highway cut straight across the plain and give the composition a strong diagonal.
