Tip of Cayuga Lake
The southern end of the lake enters the map as a long, narrow sheet of water. The inlet and its channels spread into the flat land below downtown.

Ithaca Map Poster & Print
Ithaca sits at the southern end of Cayuga Lake, the longest of New York's Finger Lakes. The land shapes the map. A flat valley floor holds the downtown grid and the Commons, while East Hill, South Hill and West Hill rise sharply on three sides. Streets that run straight in the valley start to twist and switch back as they climb, and creeks cut narrow gorges through the slopes.
Cornell University occupies East Hill, its quads and buildings spreading along the rim between Fall Creek and Cascadilla gorges. Ithaca College looks over the city from South Hill. Waterfalls within the city limits, including Ithaca Falls on Fall Creek, inspired the local slogan ‘Ithaca is Gorges’. Cayuga Inlet and a network of channels mark the low ground where the lake begins.
An Ithaca map poster shows why the town feels so distinct on the ground. The narrow tip of the lake sits at the top and a compact grid fills the middle. Campus paths and hillside roads spread outward in looser patterns. It is a natural choice for alumni of either college, for people who spent a few formative years here, and for anyone fond of the Finger Lakes.

Gorges and creeks
Fall Creek, Cascadilla Creek and Six Mile Creek carve deep, winding lines through the hillsides. Each is a clear dark thread running down toward the valley floor.
Campus on the hill
Cornell's quads and paths on East Hill form a looser, more open pattern than the downtown grid. Anyone who walked them between classes will recognise them at once.

Zakaj Ithaca
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Ithaca is often a place people pass through at an important time: four years of study, a first job, a first home. A map of its hills and gorges keeps that period close without the sentimentality of a campus photograph.
