Jaú Map Poster & Print
Jaú lies in the centre of São Paulo state, in a landscape of low hills and farmland. On the map, the city appears as a fairly compact grid of streets. Main avenues follow the valleys, and fields and plantations spread out in all directions beyond the edges.
The city grew wealthy during the coffee era, and some of its historic buildings date from that time. Today Jaú is known throughout Brazil as a centre of women's shoe manufacturing, with many small factories and shops concentrated in the city.
A Jaú map poster shows a typical interior Brazilian city. It has an ordered central grid around the main square and cathedral, and newer neighbourhoods on the surrounding slopes. It is surrounded by the large parcels of sugarcane and other crops that dominate the region.

Valley avenues
Main avenues follow the lower ground through the city. They give the map long, gently curving lines that link the centre with outlying districts.
Farmland edges
Large agricultural parcels surround the city on all sides. They give the composition an open, geometric frame of fields and farm roads.
