Keratsíni Map Poster & Print
Keratsíni lies just west of Piraeus in the Attica basin. It forms a municipality together with neighbouring Drapetsona. From above, it is a dense and continuous grid of apartment blocks rising gently from the coast toward the Aigaleo hills, with only small squares and parks breaking up the pattern.
The shoreline faces the strait toward Salamis and is largely industrial. Container terminals, quays and ship repair yards extend into the water in hard, straight lines, and the residential streets stop sharply where they meet this port zone.
A Keratsíni map poster shows the working edge of the Athens metropolitan area, a place where maritime industry and dense neighbourhoods sit side by side. Much of the town grew after 1922, when refugees from Asia Minor settled on the west side of Piraeus.

The dense grid
Small blocks of apartment buildings cover almost all the land. The fine, even texture is typical of the western suburbs of Athens.
Rising inland
Streets climb away from the water toward the hills. The grid bends and tightens as the ground becomes steeper.
