Sandy lane network
Unpaved lanes run between family compounds and form an irregular mesh. Fine lines make up most of the town's texture on the map.

Keur Médoune Map Poster & Print
Keur Médoune lies in the Diourbel Region of central Senegal. This is flat, sandy country in the groundnut basin, where towns and villages grow outward across open land instead of climbing hills or following rivers. From above, the pattern is loose and horizontal. Compounds and plots are separated by sandy lanes, and paths run out into cultivated fields.
The wider region is closely tied to the Mouride brotherhood and to the agricultural life of the Senegalese interior. Settlements here have expanded rapidly in recent decades, and a map shows it clearly. Regular blocks of planned plots sit alongside older, more irregular clusters of lanes.
A Keur Médoune map poster is a study in open space and fine lines. With no coastline or river to frame it, the street pattern itself carries the design. It is a quiet, graphic image of a place that is growing, drawn exactly as the streets run.

Planned extensions
Newer areas are divided into regular rectangular plots. Their neat pattern contrasts with the looser layout of the older quarters.
Open plains
Flat farmland surrounds the settlement on every side. Tracks lead into the fields, and the town sits in a very open frame.
