Khao Saming is a district in Trat, the easternmost province on Thailand's Gulf coast, close to the Cambodian border. Its main town is small and low-rise, and on the map it appears as a modest cluster of streets set within a much larger landscape of farmland, orchards and waterways that drain towards the coast to the south.
The town follows a main road, with shorter lanes branching off and houses spreading along routes into the countryside rather than filling a compact grid. Beyond it, the land is divided into irregular plantation plots, with streams and rivers winding through.
