The river winds through the town in broad meanders. It gives the map a flowing natural line and a series of green banks along the water.

Kirzhach Map Poster & Print
Kirzhach lies in the west of Vladimir Oblast, close to the border of Moscow Oblast, on a river of the same name. On a map the river winds through the town in loops, and the streets spread along its banks. Low wooden houses in the older districts contrast with a few blocks of Soviet-era apartments.
The town grew around the Annunciation Monastery, founded in the fourteenth century by Sergius of Radonezh, one of the most revered figures of the Russian Church. The monastery grounds are still an important point in the plan. Forests and meadows surround the town, and the river valley leads out toward the countryside.
A Kirzhach map poster has a soft, rural character. The looping river, the irregular older streets and the monastery grounds give it a quieter look than most town maps. It suits anyone with ties to the region, or anyone who likes the calm geography of small historic Russian towns.

Annunciation Monastery
The monastery founded by Sergius of Radonezh stands near the centre. Its grounds appear as a distinct enclosed shape among the surrounding streets.
Wooden quarters
The older neighbourhoods of private houses form small irregular blocks with gardens, a looser pattern than the few apartment districts nearby.
