Klaeng sits in the east of Rayong province, where the road network thins out and fields and plantations take over. From above, the town reads as a tight cluster of streets gathered around a main road, with lanes running off it and quickly giving way to open land. The built-up area is small and close-knit, and that gives the town a clear, readable outline on paper.
Beyond the town, the wider district runs south to the shore of the Gulf of Thailand, so a map of the area can take in both the grid of the town and the soft line of the coast.
