Delta rivers
Branches of the Cauvery system flow near the town in gentle curves. On the map they give a natural frame to the streets and link the settlement to the wider delta.

Koothanallur Map Poster & Print
Koothanallur lies in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, in the heart of the Cauvery delta. This is some of the flattest and most thoroughly watered land in southern India. On a map the town is surrounded by a fine net of distributary rivers, irrigation canals and paddy fields that stretch in every direction toward neighbouring villages.
The town's streets form a dense, irregular core, with older lanes near places of worship and newer houses spreading along the roads out of town. Watercourses running close to the settlement add long curving lines that frame the plan. The fields beyond reduce to a quiet pattern of plots and embankments.
Koothanallur has long-standing ties with communities abroad, and many families have members working overseas. A Koothanallur map poster keeps home close at hand. It shows the lanes and delta waters of a place that many of its people remember from far away, drawn with enough detail to find a familiar street.

Irrigation canals
Channels run through the surrounding farmland, dividing it into fields. Their thin, repeated lines create a detailed texture across the whole composition.
Dense old core
The heart of the town is a compact tangle of narrow lanes. Newer growth follows the main roads outward and gives the plan a star-like shape.
