Historic grid
The original town site forms a tidy grid of short blocks around the old main street, a clear counterpoint to the winding suburban streets built later around it.

Lafayette Map Poster & Print
Lafayette sits in eastern Boulder County, on the rolling plains between Boulder and Denver, with the Front Range rising on the western horizon. On a map the town mixes an older grid around its historic main street with newer curving subdivisions spreading outward. Ponds, reservoirs and greenbelt trails cut through the residential areas, leaving generous open space between the streets.
The town was founded in 1888 by Mary Miller, who named it after her late husband, Lafayette Miller, on land where coal was being mined. For decades coal shaped the local economy and the lives of the miners who worked here. Today the old downtown remains the heart of Lafayette, while Waneka Lake and Coal Creek are its most recognisable natural features on the map.
A Lafayette map poster captures the shift from small mining town to modern Front Range community in a single view. The straight lines of the original town site contrast with the looping streets of later neighbourhoods, and the lakes read as clean, bright shapes. It suits residents, people who grew up in Boulder County, or anyone who remembers a particular house or trail.

Waneka Lake
This reservoir within the town appears as a smooth open shape ringed by a path, an easy landmark for residents to find on the print.
Coal Creek
The creek and its trail trace a thin, winding green corridor through Lafayette, a natural line that breaks up the pattern of streets across the plains.
