The lake itself
The glacial lake sits near the centre of the village and forms the largest open shape on the map. Its rounded outline makes an easy and memorable focal point.

Lake Zurich Map Poster & Print
Lake Zurich is a village in Lake County, Illinois, in the north-western suburbs of Chicago. Its map is centred on the lake that gives the village its name. It is a compact, rounded body of water formed by glacial action, and streets run close to its shore on most sides, with homes and small parks facing the water.
Around the lake, the pattern changes to the suburban neighbourhoods of the later twentieth century, with curving streets, courts and cul-de-sacs set among ponds and patches of woodland. Rand Road, US Route 12, runs past on a long diagonal, and other state routes cross the area, lined with shopping centres and business parks.
A Lake Zurich map poster places the lake at the centre of the composition. There is a clean, rounded shape of open water, a ring of shoreline streets and a looser suburban street pattern beyond it. It is a balanced, easy-to-read image that any resident will recognise at a glance.

Shoreline streets
Roads follow much of the lake's edge, with homes, beaches and small parks between the road and the water. They form a near-ring of fine detail around the lake.
Rand Road diagonal
US Route 12 cuts across the area on a long diagonal, as it does across much of Chicago's north-west. On the poster it is a bold straight line crossing the curving neighbourhoods.
