Lettered avenues
East-west roads named by letter cross numbered north-south streets every mile. Together they lay a large, even grid over the whole valley and make Lancaster instantly recognisable on a map.

Lancaster Map Poster & Print
Lancaster sits in the Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County, on the western edge of the Mojave Desert. The valley floor is almost level, and the city is laid out on a grid of major roads spaced a mile apart. The east-west avenues are named by letter, while the numbered streets running north-south are labelled east or west of a central line. The result is one of the most regular street plans in California.
Each square mile looks different inside. Some are filled with tract housing that curls into cul-de-sacs, while others are still open desert or farmland. The Antelope Valley Freeway runs north-south through the city, and the downtown stretch of Lancaster Boulevard forms a short, walkable spine. A Lancaster map poster makes that contrast easy to read, with dense neighbourhoods and blank ground side by side on the same grid.
Aerospace is part of the city's identity. Edwards Air Force Base lies to the north-east, and Air Force Plant 42 in neighbouring Palmdale has hosted aircraft development for decades. West of the city, the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve turns the hills orange in spring. Lancaster also has a Musical Road, grooved so that cars driving over it play a tune.

Open squares
Some mile squares are full of housing and others are still empty desert. The mix gives the map a checkerboard feel that shows how the city has grown.
Lancaster Boulevard
The downtown strip on Lancaster Boulevard is a short, walkable stretch of shops and restaurants. It forms the traditional centre within the much larger grid of the city.

Zakaj Lancaster
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Lancaster's grid is easy to picture and hard to forget: long straight avenues, desert light and mountains at the edge of the valley. A map of the city suits people who work in aerospace, families who have lived here for years, or anyone who has left and still misses the space.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a street name and a move-in date. Choose from five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the aerospace theme, and Sand fits the desert.
