Downtown grid
A small grid of streets forms the historic centre. It is the most regular part of the map, and it acts as the anchor of the composition.

Lenoir Map Poster & Print
Lenoir sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge in western North Carolina. The land is uneven, so the street pattern is too. A compact downtown grid gives way to roads that curve along ridges and follow the creek valleys. Residential streets branch off in loops and dead ends, and the mountains rise to the north and west beyond the edge of the city.
Lenoir is the seat of Caldwell County. For much of the twentieth century it was one of the centres of the North Carolina furniture industry, with large factories in and around the town. The industry has declined, but its legacy remains in the town's buildings and identity.
A Lenoir map poster reflects its foothill setting. The small orderly centre is surrounded by an irregular network of roads shaped by terrain, giving the print both focus and movement. It is a map that feels grounded in the landscape rather than laid over it.

Ridge-following roads
Outside the centre, roads bend and branch with the hills. On the map they form a web of curves around the older core.
Industrial sites
Large factory plots, many of them associated with furniture, stand out as broad blocks. They recall the industry that shaped the town.
