Lucé Map Poster & Print
Lucé borders Chartres to the west and forms part of its continuous built-up area in Eure-et-Loir. On a map, there is no clear boundary between the two. Streets run from one into the other, and Lucé's residential districts and housing estates spread west from the edge of the cathedral city.
Beyond the town, the land opens into the Beauce, one of France's great grain plains. The change from streets to open fields is abrupt. Long, straight field boundaries and farm roads replace the curving roads and cul-de-sacs of the suburb.
A Lucé map poster shows this edge clearly. A dense suburban network on one side and very large, open fields on the other make a strong composition, with Chartres at one side of the frame.

Housing estate patterns
Residential districts include curving roads, loops and apartment blocks, giving the map a varied, layered texture typical of postwar French suburbs.
Beauce fields
West of the town, the Beauce plain spreads out in broad, straight-edged parcels. The farmland's open geometry contrasts sharply with the dense suburb.
