Scheldt meanders
The Upper Scheldt winds through Merelbeke in wide loops, with older cut-off arms beside the current course. The pattern makes a graceful centrepiece on the poster.

Merelbeke Map Poster & Print
Merelbeke lies directly south of Ghent, on both sides of the Upper Scheldt. From above, it is a mix of suburban streets, old village centres and open land. The river draws broad, looping bends through the municipality, and railway lines and main roads fan out from Ghent to cross it at several points.
The Merelbeke map poster is shaped by water and rail. The Scheldt's meanders, some of them cut off and left as quiet oxbows, contrast with the straight tracks and embankments of the railway. Ghent's ring canal and motorway system lies close to the northern edge, and residential districts fill the spaces in between.
The municipality includes several former villages that have grown together over time. Their older centres still appear on the map as small knots of streets. Toward the south the landscape opens into fields, woods and river meadows typical of the Flemish Scheldt valley, a green edge within easy cycling distance of Ghent's historic centre.

Rail corridors
Railway lines from Ghent cross the municipality in long straight strokes. They cut through the looser suburban fabric and add strong structure to the map.
Village cores
Former village centres appear as small clusters of streets inside the wider suburb. Each one hints at Merelbeke's origins as a group of separate communities.

Zakaj Merelbeke
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Merelbeke gives Ghent residents a map with a strong natural motif, the river's loops, rather than the familiar old-city outline. It makes a good house-warming gift for anyone moving to the southern edge of the city.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose from five styles. Blueprint works especially well for the river bends. Download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
