Kura delta
The river divides and spreads as it nears the sea, and its channels and low islands form the most intricate linework on the poster.

Neftçala Map Poster & Print
Neftçala stands in southeastern Azerbaijan on the flat coastal lowland where the Kura, the longest river of the South Caucasus, approaches the Caspian Sea. The landscape is almost entirely level, and water defines the map: the river channel, the divided land of the delta, the shoreline and shallow wetlands, and the town's streets laid out on the dry ground between them.
The name refers to oil, and the town grew in the twentieth century around resource industries, including oil extraction and a plant producing iodine and bromine from underground brines. The street plan is largely regular, with orderly blocks and straight roads rather than the tangled lanes found in older towns of the region.
Around the town, wetlands and reedbeds along the delta attract migrating birds, and fishing has long been part of life on this stretch of coast. A Neftçala map poster records the meeting of an industrial town, a great river and an inland sea, drawn in the clean lines of a black-and-white print.

Regular street plan
The town's blocks follow a largely orderly layout, a calm geometric pattern set against the irregular shapes of water and wetland around it.
