Neuenhagen bei Berlin lies just beyond the eastern city limits of Berlin in Brandenburg. It is a green residential community, and from above it reads as a close mesh of quiet streets lined with houses and gardens, laid out in blocks that grow looser toward the edges.
The S-Bahn line S5 runs through the municipality and gives the map a strong diagonal spine, with the station area as the natural centre. On either side, the grid of villa streets spreads out, and beyond it are fields, woods and the flat, open land typical of this part of Brandenburg.
