Nevel’ Map Poster & Print
Nevel’ is a town in the south of Pskov Oblast, close to the border with Belarus. It stands among lakes, the largest and closest being Lake Nevel, and the town is laid out along their shores. On a map, water surrounds much of the settlement, and streets follow the curve of the lakes or run across the land between them.
The town has a long history in a borderland that has passed at different times between Lithuanian, Polish and Russian rule. In the Second World War the area saw heavy fighting, including the Nevel offensive of 1943, and much of the town was rebuilt afterward. Its current layout reflects both older roads and post-war reconstruction.
Today the map shows a compact centre, residential districts spreading along the shorelines and wooded countryside beyond, with smaller lakes scattered across the land. A Nevel’ map poster captures the town's defining feature: a place built between lakes, where the outlines of the water matter as much to the drawing as the streets.

Streets between waters

Lake country
