New Ireland Map Poster & Print
New Ireland is a province and a large island of Papua New Guinea, in the Bismarck Archipelago. It is long and very narrow, stretching several hundred kilometres from northwest to southeast, while in many places it is only a short distance across. The provincial capital, Kavieng, lies at the northern tip, surrounded by reefs and small islands.
The island's spine is mountainous and forested, especially in the wider southern part, while the northern section is flatter and narrower. Most villages lie along the coast. The Boluminski Highway follows the east coast southward from Kavieng, linking villages that sit between the road and the sea, with the Pacific on one side and rising forest on the other.
A New Ireland map poster traces this thin, curving line of land. The island is known for its malagan tradition, elaborate carved and painted sculptures made for memorial ceremonies, many of which are now held in museums worldwide. The surrounding waters, dotted with reefs and small islands, are popular with divers and surfers, especially around Kavieng.

Curving outline
The island forms a long, slender arc across the sea, widening towards the mountainous south, one of the most distinctive island shapes in the Pacific.

Zakaj New Ireland
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
New Ireland means home to its people and a place of return for family members elsewhere in Papua New Guinea and beyond. It also draws divers, surfers and collectors of Pacific art. Its long arc works well as a tall print or in a wide landscape format.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a village, a clan name or a date, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint gives the reefs and island chains a clear, nautical feel.
