Ridge-top neighbourhoods
Many colonias sit on high ground, with streets tracing ridges and descending along slopes. On the map these form curving clusters separated by gaps of steeper terrain.

Nicolás Romero Map Poster & Print
Nicolás Romero is a municipality in the State of México, on the north-western edge of the Mexico City metropolitan area. Its landscape is uneven, rising from the valley toward wooded mountains, and on a map this shows immediately. Rather than a single grid, the streets form many small clusters that follow ridges, wrap around slopes and break off at ravines.
The municipality takes its name from a nineteenth-century liberal fighter who was executed during the French intervention in Mexico. Over recent decades it grew rapidly as families moved out from the capital in search of space and more affordable housing, filling the hillsides with colonias linked by a small number of main roads.
A Nicolás Romero map poster traces how a community adapts to steep ground. The main roads run along the most practical routes, secondary streets branch out in irregular patterns, and open areas mark the steeper or forested land. The overall effect is intricate and organic, closer to a drawing of terrain than a conventional city plan.

Ravines
Deep watercourses cut through the municipality and interrupt the street network. They appear on the poster as narrow, winding breaks that give the composition its fractured character.
Main road links
A limited number of main roads connect the neighbourhoods to one another and to the wider metropolitan area. They act as clear threads through the dense, irregular pattern around them.

Zakaj Nicolás Romero
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Nicolás Romero is home for families who moved out of the capital to build a life on its hillsides, and for those who grew up there and have since moved on. A map of the municipality honours that effort and makes a meaningful piece for a first family home.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised with a colonia, a family surname or a date. Choose one of five styles, from Paper to Blueprint, and download print-ready PDF and 300 DPI PNG files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
