Plateau edge
The town stops sharply along its steep southern side, where the ground falls toward the plain of Gela, giving the map a distinctive hard edge.

Niscemi Map Poster & Print
Niscemi is a town in the province of Caltanissetta in southern Sicily. It sits on high ground at the edge of a plateau, overlooking the plain of Gela and the coast beyond. The town's southern side falls away steeply, so the map ends abruptly on that side, while the other directions open more gently onto farmland.
The historic centre is a compact grid of streets around several churches and squares, rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake that struck much of south-eastern Sicily. Newer neighbourhoods extend onto the plateau behind it. Near the town lies the Sughereta di Niscemi, a protected cork oak woodland that is one of the rare remaining forests in this part of the island.
A Niscemi map poster makes the town's position clear: a dense, even pattern of blocks with a sharp edge where the ground drops away. It is a strong image of a hill town defined by its setting, and it reads well even at smaller print sizes.

After the 1693 earthquake, the centre was rebuilt on a fairly regular pattern of straight streets and squares, visible as an ordered block grid on the map.
Cork oak woodland
The protected Sughereta di Niscemi lies near town. Its wooded ground shows up as open space among the rural roads of the plateau.

Zakaj Niscemi
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
