North Lakhimpur Map Poster & Print
North Lakhimpur is the headquarters of Lakhimpur district in Assam, on the north bank of the Brahmaputra. The foothills of Arunachal Pradesh rise not far to the north, and the town sits on the flat, well-watered plain between them and the great river. On a map, the centre is a compact web of streets, with roads leading out across farmland.
Water is everywhere in this landscape. Rivers coming down from the hills cross the plain toward the Brahmaputra, and their channels, embankments and floodplains shape where roads and villages can go. Around the town, tea gardens and paddy fields show up as open areas between clusters of settlement.
A North Lakhimpur map poster gives a clear sense of place in upper Assam: a town between hills and river, built on a plain that floods and renews itself each monsoon. For people from the area, the pattern of streets, rivers and fields is immediately familiar, and it reads well at every size.
