Paragominas Map Poster & Print
Paragominas was founded in 1965 along the Belém–Brasília highway, and the map still shows how new it is. The streets form a fairly regular grid with long straight avenues and even blocks, laid out on flat ground in eastern Pará. The highway runs along the town and serves as its main axis. Beyond the last streets, the pattern turns into the large rectangular plots of farms and ranches.
The name joins Pará, Goiás and Minas Gerais, the home states of many of the first settlers. The municipality grew on cattle ranching, timber and later bauxite mining. In more recent years it has become known for its Município Verde programme, a local effort to curb deforestation, which has made it a frequent reference in discussions about development in the Amazon.
A Paragominas map poster brings out the logic of a planned frontier town. The orderly grid, the strong line of the highway and the geometric boundary where the streets meet the surrounding land all read clearly in black and white. It's a graphic, almost architectural print, and it tells the story of a place built quickly with a clear plan.

Regular street grid
The town's blocks are laid out in a largely even grid of straight avenues and cross streets. On the poster this gives Paragominas a clean, orderly geometry.
Rural edge
Where the urban grid ends, roads continue into large rectangular farm plots. This sharp transition from town to countryside is one of the most striking features of the map.
