Valley streets
The main streets follow the line of the valley, curving with the terrain rather than forming a grid. This gives the town its irregular, organic outline.

Peçanha Map Poster & Print
Peçanha lies in eastern Minas Gerais, in the hilly country of the Rio Doce basin. The terrain is a series of rounded hills and narrow valleys, and the town's map follows it closely. Streets bend along the valley floor and climb a short way up the slopes. The result is an irregular, compact plan shaped by the ground beneath it.
Like many towns in the Minas interior, Peçanha is the centre of a large rural municipality. Beyond the urban area, the map is mostly open land crossed by winding roads and small streams, with scattered farms and hamlets on the hillsides. There are almost no straight lines anywhere, and that is part of what makes the landscape recognisable.
A Peçanha map poster keeps that low-key character. It centres on the town's cluster of streets and squares. A wider framing follows the roads that curve away through the hills toward neighbouring towns. In black and white the pattern looks almost like a hand-drawn sketch, which suits a place of this size and setting.

Hillside blocks
Shorter streets branch off and climb the surrounding slopes, so the edges of the town trace the contours of the rounded Minas hills.
Rural roads
Winding roads and tracks cross the wider municipality, linking farms and small settlements through a landscape of hills and narrow stream valleys.

Zakaj Peçanha
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Peçanha is home in memory to families who left the Minas interior for Belo Horizonte, São Paulo or further away, and home in fact to those who stayed. A map of the town captures the streets of childhood and the hills around them in a simple, lasting form.
Personalise the title and subtitle in Portuguese or English, with a family name or a date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional frame.
