Pezinok is northeast of Bratislava, where the flat Danubian lowland meets the forested ridge of the Little Carpathians. The historic town sits on the lower slope. On the map, its compact centre, once walled, is ringed by later streets and then by vineyards that rise in long strips toward the woods. The contrast between plain and hills shows in every direction.
Wine runs through local identity. Pezinok is one of the main towns on the Little Carpathian Wine Route, with a winemaking tradition going back centuries, cellars in old burgher houses and an autumn vintage festival.
