Street grid
Plainview's streets follow a regular grid aligned with the compass. The pattern is typical of High Plains towns and looks especially crisp on the poster against the flat land.

Plainview Map Poster & Print
Plainview is the seat of Hale County, on the Llano Estacado of the Texas South Plains, between Lubbock and Amarillo. The land here is among the flattest in North America. The town is laid out on a clean grid of streets that extends outward until it meets circular irrigated fields and straight section-line roads.
Interstate 27 runs north and south along the town. Running Water Draw, a shallow drainage that crosses the plains, winds through Plainview and gives the grid one of its few curves. Grain elevators, rail lines and agricultural businesses reflect the town's role in a major farming region. Plainview is also home to Wayland Baptist University, whose campus sits within the town.
A Plainview map poster is a study in order. The streets of the town are rectilinear, the countryside is divided into square-mile sections, and pivot irrigation adds round fields, with only the draw and the interstate breaking the pattern. The singer and sausage maker Jimmy Dean was born here, and people from Hale County share a quiet pride in this wide, open place.

Running Water Draw
This shallow watercourse winds through town. It is the one natural curve interrupting the straight lines of streets and section roads.
Pivot fields
Around the town, center-pivot irrigation creates circles set inside square sections. This geometric pattern of the Llano Estacado reads well in black and white.

Zakaj Plainview
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People tend to describe Plainview by its horizon, and a map captures the town's logic better than a photograph can. It suits Wayland graduates, farming families, and anyone who has driven I-27 and remembers the grain elevators rising from the plains.
Edit the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps to add a graduation year or a ranch name. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. You can print the $9 files locally at sizes up to 24×36″ or order a finished poster.
