Fine lane pattern
Narrow, irregular paths between homes and compounds give the district a dense, handwritten texture, very different from the rigid grids of planned cities.

Plaque Map Poster & Print
Plaque lies within the Bissau autonomous sector, the capital area of Guinea-Bissau, a short distance from the city centre. Bissau sits on low land beside the estuary of the Geba river. From above, its outer districts are a dense mesh of lanes and compounds held together by a few long, straight main roads.
In neighbourhoods like this one, streets rarely form a grid. Paths run between houses and yards, widening in some places and fading out in others, and the resulting map pattern is fine and irregular, more a texture than a plan. Main roads cross it in clear, confident lines toward the centre of the city.
Bissau as a whole faces the broad estuary, with the old colonial quarter near the port and the islands of the Bijagós archipelago further out to sea. A Plaque map poster brings one part of that city into focus. The district is shown street by street, rather than as a small corner of a larger map.

Main roads
A few wide roads cross the area in straight lines, connecting Plaque with central Bissau and giving the composition its strongest structure.
Estuary landscape
The low, flat land of the Bissau area is shaped by the Geba estuary, and tidal creeks and wetland edges are common around the outer city.

Zakaj Plaque
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For people from Bissau, especially those living in Portugal, France or elsewhere, a map of their own neighbourhood can mean more than a map of the whole capital. It keeps a specific set of streets in view, not just the name of a city.
Use the district or your family name as the title, add a date or place in the subtitle and edit the coordinates. There are five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, sold as $9 digital files or as a printed poster.
