Qo‘rg‘ontepa Map Poster & Print
Qo‘rg‘ontepa lies in the eastern part of Andijan Region, near the border with Kyrgyzstan, in the densely populated Ferghana Valley. On the map it shows the typical pattern of the valley: a town centre with a mix of regular and irregular streets, surrounded by villages and farmland divided into long plots. Irrigation canals cut across the land in straight and curving lines.
Irrigation is the key to reading this landscape. The Ferghana Valley has been farmed for centuries using water from the surrounding mountains, and canals and ditches still structure the fields, roads and settlements. On a black-and-white print, the channels are drawn as fine lines, and the houses follow them in long, narrow rows.
A Qo‘rg‘ontepa map poster shows a working agricultural town, with the order of canals and fields around a denser centre. Toward the edges of the frame, the mountains of the border region begin to rise, and the roads bend with the terrain. It's a map for those who know the town and its surrounding villages well.

Long field plots
Farmland is divided into elongated rectangles, and these repeated shapes form a regular, quiet pattern around the town.
Border hills
Toward the Kyrgyz border, the land begins to rise, and the roads there follow the terrain in curves rather than straight lines.
