Rahim Yar Khan Map Poster & Print
Rahim Yar Khan lies in the far south of Punjab, close to the border with Sindh. The land around it is completely flat, and on a map the city is surrounded by a network of straight irrigation canals and field boundaries that divide the plain into long, regular strips. The Indus River flows some distance to the west.
The city grew as a market and administrative centre for the surrounding farmland, which is known for cotton and sugarcane. Its older core is made up of dense, narrow streets near the railway, while newer housing schemes spread outward on straighter, wider grids. The main north–south highway and the railway line run past the city on parallel tracks.
A Rahim Yar Khan map poster shows the relationship between the city and the irrigated land that supports it. The town was once part of the princely state of Bahawalpur and takes its name from a son of one of its nawabs. In black and white, the fine old streets, the planned outer blocks and the canals each read clearly.

Old market core
Near the railway, the older part of the city has a dense pattern of short, irregular streets that is very different from the newer neighbourhoods around it.
Road and rail line
The national highway and the main railway pass the city side by side, a long double line that links it to Lahore in the north and Karachi in the south.
