Ruqi Map Poster & Print
Ruqi lies in the Awdal region in the far north-west of Somalia, an area of dry uplands, seasonal watercourses and scattered settlements that extends toward the border with Ethiopia. On a map the town appears as a cluster of streets and compounds set in open land, its shape determined more by roads, terrain and access to water than by any formal plan.
Published detail about Ruqi is limited, so it is best described by what the map itself shows: a built-up area where lanes converge on a few main routes, and a wide landscape around it crossed by tracks leading to neighbouring towns. Across Awdal, towns like this serve as local centres for trade and services in a largely pastoral region.
A Ruqi map poster keeps that picture simple and graphic. The small cluster of streets and the broad space around it make a restrained design that suits a plain black-and-white treatment. It is made above all for people with family ties to the town who want a clear image of a place far from where they now live.

Tracks outward
Roads and tracks extend from the town across the uplands, fine lines on the map that connect it with neighbouring settlements throughout the region.
Open upland
Around the town the map opens into broad, sparsely marked land, giving the built-up area a clear edge and leaving generous space around the composition.

Zakaj Ruqi
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
For members of the Somali diaspora with roots in Awdal, a map of Ruqi can be a quiet, personal way to mark home on a wall in another country, and to show children and friends the streets where the family story began.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be edited, for example to add a family name, and five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
