Saclepea sits in Nimba County in northeastern Liberia, a region of rolling forest, farmland and scattered villages near the borders with Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire. From above, the town has a linear shape. It follows the main road that crosses the county, with homes and plots spreading out from it in loose, irregular blocks and not in any planned grid.
On a monochrome print, that pattern turns into a clear spine with a scatter of smaller tracks. Short lanes leave the highway and fade into footpaths. Small streams and the low wet ground between them appear as breaks in the street network, so the empty spaces say as much about the land as the roads do.
