San Antonio Map Poster & Print
San Antonio's centre grew around the bends of the San Antonio River, which is why its downtown streets meet at odd angles rather than forming a single grid. The River Walk follows a loop of the river one level below the street, and on the map its narrow curve threads between blocks, bridges and plazas. Nearby stands the Alamo, the former mission that became a symbol of Texas history.
Founded in 1718, the city spread outward in rings. Interstate 410 and the larger Loop 1604 encircle it like contour lines, with major highways crossing them toward Austin, Houston and Laredo. South of downtown, the river continues past a chain of Spanish colonial missions that were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
A San Antonio map poster pairs the irregular historic core with the vast, orderly suburbs around it. The contrast is striking in monochrome: a tight knot of curving streets at the centre, then broad, even neighbourhoods reaching toward the edges, tied together by the thin line of the river.

Mission trail
The river continues south past four colonial mission churches, part of a World Heritage site. Their route along the water links the old town with the southern districts.
Highway loops
Interstate 410 and Loop 1604 form two concentric rings around the city, giving the poster a clear structure of inner and outer zones.
