Sankt Ingbert lies in eastern Saarland, a short distance from Saarbrücken, in a landscape of forested hills and narrow valleys. On a map the town extends along the valley floor, with its centre gathered around a few main streets and residential districts climbing gradually up the surrounding slopes.
Large areas of woodland surround the town, and the map shows them as open spaces crossed by forest paths and roads. A motorway passes nearby, cutting a smooth curve through the landscape and linking the town to the wider Saar region and the border with France.
