Sequeira lies in the Guarda district of Portugal's Beira Interior, on the high plateau near the city of Guarda, often described as the highest city in the country. The map shows an upland landscape: roads following ridges and valleys, small settlements set among fields and stone walls, and the edges of a larger town nearby.
This is granite country, with cold winters and exposed hills, and the settlement pattern reflects that. Houses cluster together, roads link one village to the next along the easiest routes, and the land between them is divided into small, irregular plots rather than broad fields.
