Valley-floor core
The town's streets gather on the flattest available ground, so the core reads as a tight, elongated cluster set within wide blank space.

Shanghuang Map Poster & Print
Shanghuang lies in the mountainous northeast of Chongqing, where the land rises in long ridges and the roads have to work hard to get anywhere. From above, the town looks like a compact cluster of streets pressed into a valley. The built-up area stretches along the lowest, flattest ground, and the slopes around it stay mostly empty on the map.
The road network explains the terrain better than any contour line. Main routes follow the watercourses, bend to stay level and switch back when they have to climb. The few side streets branch off at short intervals and stop where the gradient becomes too steep. It is a plan shaped by the land rather than drawn on a board, and it stays clear even at small print sizes.
A Shanghuang map poster turns this setting into a quiet study of lines and empty space. The dense core, the narrow valley roads and the blank hillsides give the print a clear structure: one concentrated knot of streets surrounded by open ground. For anyone who knows the town, the pale margins hold the mountains as clearly as the drawn streets hold the town.

Contour-hugging roads
Routes in and out of town curve along the slopes and watercourses. Their bends trace the shape of the surrounding ridges without any shading at all.
Open hillsides
Around the settlement the map thins out quickly. The empty slopes frame the town and give the poster generous negative space.

Zakaj Shanghuang
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People hang Shanghuang because it is home, or was, and because few maps show it at all. A print that draws its valley streets carefully gives a small mountain town the attention usually reserved for capitals.
Change the title to a family name, add a subtitle with a year, or set the coordinates line to the house you grew up in. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
