Upland valley setting
The town sits on a high valley floor framed by Zagros ridges, so most of the surrounding map is open ground, with roads threading across it toward the hills and villages.

Sonqor Map Poster & Print
Sonqor lies in the north-east of Kermanshah Province, in a broad upland valley ringed by the ridges of the Zagros. From above, the town is a dense, compact knot of streets surrounded by a patchwork of fields and orchards. Roads leave it in several directions toward neighbouring villages and the provincial capital, and its edges are soft, fading gradually from built blocks into cultivated land.
The name is familiar to collectors of Persian weaving, since Sonqor has long been associated with a distinctive style of Kurdish rug. On a map, though, the story is told in simpler lines: a main thoroughfare through the centre, smaller lanes branching off it, and the pale spaces of open ground that separate the town from the hills around it.
A Sonqor map poster reduces all of this to black lines on white, which suits a place defined by its setting as much as by its buildings. The contrast between the tight street pattern and the empty country around it gives the composition a clear centre, and the valley context keeps the town from feeling isolated on the page.

Dense town core
Streets in the centre are packed closely together, forming a dark, irregular mass that stands out sharply against the lighter pattern of fields at the edge of town.
Radiating roads
Several routes leave Sonqor in different directions, giving the poster a set of long lines that reach out from the core and anchor it within the wider province.

Zakaj Sonqor
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
People hang a map of Sonqor to keep a hometown or a family origin close, often far from western Iran. The quiet geometry of a small valley town works well on a wall, and the map carries its meaning without needing any explanation beyond its title.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a meaningful date, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The map is available as a $9 HD download or as a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
