South Elgin Map Poster & Print
South Elgin lies in Kane County, Illinois, along the Fox River just south of Elgin. From above, the village follows the river valley, with a small older centre on the banks and suburban neighbourhoods of curving streets and cul-de-sacs extending east and west. Parks and forest preserves run along much of the river, giving the map a continuous green spine.
The village is home to the Fox River Trolley Museum, which operates historic electric trolleys on a stretch of the former interurban line that once ran along the river. The Fox River Trail, a long-distance path on the old railway beds, passes through as well, linking South Elgin with neighbouring towns up and down the valley.
A South Elgin map poster brings out the river's role. The Fox cuts a strong curving line through the centre, lined by open space, while the suburban street patterns on either side create soft loops and branches. It is a calm and balanced composition that shows how Chicago's outer towns grew along their rivers.

Suburban loops
