South Houston Map Poster & Print
South Houston is a small independent city in Harris County, Texas, surrounded by the much larger cities of Houston and Pasadena. On a map it is almost entirely flat and gridded. Residential streets run in straight, regular lines, commercial corridors follow the main roads, and the block pattern is tight and even throughout. Without labels its boundaries are hard to see, because the urban fabric continues uninterrupted on every side.
The Gulf Freeway, Interstate 45, passes close by, and major roads and rail lines divide the wider area into large rectangular sections. Like much of the Houston region, the land is low and level. It is crossed by drainage channels and bayous that carry water towards the Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay.
A South Houston map poster frames the city at a scale where its neat grid fills the sheet, with the freeways and arterials giving strong outlines. It is a very graphic map, with dense, evenly spaced lines that look especially crisp in Noir or Classic black & white. The runways of nearby Hobby Airport can add a bold geometric accent.

Freeways and arterials
Interstate 45 and the region's major roads cut the surrounding area into large rectangular sections, giving the map its strongest outlines.
Bayous and drainage
Channels and bayous wind through the otherwise rigid grid. They add a few natural curves to a landscape that is almost perfectly flat.
