River Welland
The river cuts through the middle of town, and the streets on either side follow its gentle curve, creating the central spine of the whole composition.

Spalding Map Poster & Print
Spalding sits in the south of Lincolnshire, in the heart of the Fens, where the land is flat and much of it was reclaimed from marsh. The River Welland runs through the town, and the older streets follow its banks. Beyond the edges of town the map changes character completely: long straight drains, dykes and field boundaries divide the ground into a patchwork of hard-edged shapes.
The town has long been tied to horticulture. For decades Spalding was known for its bulb fields and its spring flower parade, and growing and packing still shape the local economy. On a map, that agricultural setting shows as a ring of orderly lanes and farm tracks that contrast with the curving streets of the old centre along the river.
A Spalding map poster captures a very English kind of landscape, one defined by water management as much as by settlement. The river, the drains and the ruler-straight roads give the design a strong graphic quality, and the town centre forms a denser cluster where they all come together.

Fenland drains
Around the town, straight artificial watercourses and dykes run for long distances across the flat land, adding precise geometric lines to the edges of the map.
Riverside old town
Near the Welland the street pattern is older and less regular, with lanes bending to meet the river before the grid of later housing takes over.

Zakaj Spalding
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Spalding means something specific to people from the Fens: flat horizons, bulb fields in spring, the river through town. A map poster keeps that setting in view, whether you still live nearby or moved away years ago.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a house name or a moving date, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
