Planned grid
Broad streets cross at right angles, dividing the district into large, regular blocks. The pattern reflects the planning of a capital laid out in the second half of the twentieth century.

Tevragh Zeina Map Poster & Print
Tevragh Zeina is one of the districts of Nouakchott, the capital of Mauritania, on the city's western side toward the Atlantic coast. From above it is a clear, planned grid of broad avenues and large blocks laid out on flat, sandy ground. At its edges the city meets open dunes and the coastal strip.
Nouakchott was founded in the late 1950s as the capital of the new state, and Tevragh Zeina grew into its most prosperous residential area. The district is home to many embassies and diplomatic residences, as well as ministries and large private houses along wide streets. Its layout reflects a capital built almost from scratch in a desert setting.
A Tevragh Zeina map poster emphasises structure. The regular grid, the long straight avenues and the open space where the city meets the sand make a strong, graphic composition. With little variation in terrain, every street line stands out, especially in the Noir or Blueprint style.

Main avenues
Several wide avenues run through the district and connect it with the city centre. On the poster they stand out as bold lines among the finer residential streets.
Toward the coast
To the west, the city thins out into sand and dunes before reaching the Atlantic shore. That open space gives the map a calm, uncluttered edge.
