The Moselle
The river crosses the whole map as a wide, gently curving band. It divides the town into two banks and gives the poster a strong central axis.

Thionville Map Poster & Print
Thionville sits on the Moselle in northern Lorraine, a short distance from the borders of Luxembourg and Germany. The river runs roughly north to south through the town and separates the historic centre on one bank from districts on the other. Bridges connect the two sides at regular intervals.
The town has been a fortified site for centuries, and parts of its defensive past are still visible in its layout. The old centre is compact, with narrow streets around the squares. Its best-known surviving landmark is the medieval Tour aux Puces. Later growth spread outward along roads and rail lines tied to the region's steel industry.
A Thionville map poster shows the Moselle as a broad band through the composition. Dense streets gather on its banks, and railway lines sweep in long curves toward the steel valleys and the border. In black and white, the contrast between the fine old centre and the open river is striking.

Compact historic core
The old centre forms a tight knot of short streets and small squares close to the river. It stands out clearly against the looser suburbs around it.
Rail and industry lines
Railway tracks and yards arc through the town. They trace the transport links that once served Lorraine's steelworks and still connect Thionville to Luxembourg.
