Tiaret Map Poster & Print
Tiaret sits at an elevation of around a thousand metres, on the southern slopes of the Tell Atlas where the mountains give way to the high plateaus of the interior. Its map shows a city climbing a hillside, with streets following the contours in places and straightening into grids where the ground levels out. Beyond it, wide cereal fields stretch toward the south.
The area has a long history. Nearby lay Tahert, the capital of the Rustamid dynasty in the eighth to tenth centuries, a significant centre of learning and trade in North Africa. Tiaret is also known for horse breeding, particularly the Barb and Arab-Barb horses raised at the Chaouchaoua stud farm near the city.
A Tiaret map poster captures a city shaped by its terrain, where the slope sets the direction of the streets. The contrast between the dense centre and the open plateau around it makes a composition with a sense of height and distance.

High plateau
South of the city, the land opens into broad plateaus of cereal fields, giving the map wide, open space around the built-up area.
Rustamid heritage
The medieval Rustamid capital of Tahert lay near present-day Tiaret, connecting the modern city to one of North Africa's early independent states.
