From above, the town stretches along that main road, with streets branching off into neighbourhoods and then into farmland. The land around it is low and flat, crossed by canals and field boundaries.
The town is well known across southern Vietnam for its food, especially bánh canh Trảng Bàng, a thick noodle soup, and bánh tráng phơi sương, rice paper dried in the night dew. Many travellers stop here on the way to the border or to Tây Ninh.
