River meanders
The Green–Duwamish River loops through the city in broad curves. Its soft shapes contrast sharply with the straight lines of freeways and commercial blocks.

Tukwila Map Poster & Print
Tukwila lies just south of Seattle in the Green–Duwamish river valley. The river winds through the city in wide loops, and some of the busiest transport lines in the region converge here: Interstate 5, Interstate 405 and rail lines all meet within its boundaries. From above, the map is defined by curving water and wide freeways cutting across the flat valley floor.
The Southcenter district, built around Westfield Southcenter, one of the largest shopping centres in the Pacific Northwest, occupies much of the valley near the freeway junction. It forms a distinctive pattern of large blocks and car parks. West of the valley, residential streets climb the hillside towards Seattle–Tacoma International Airport.
A Tukwila map poster is more infrastructural than picturesque, and that is its appeal. River meanders, interchange ramps, rail yards and hillside neighbourhoods create a layered, graphic composition. Tukwila Station, served by Sounder commuter trains and Amtrak, sits in the valley near the river.

I-5 and I-405 junction
Two major interstates meet here, and their ramps and overpasses create one of the most graphic features on the map, a knot of sweeping lines.

Large commercial blocks around the shopping centre form a coarse grid in the valley. They give the poster a distinctive texture unlike the residential hills nearby.

Zakaj Tukwila
Zemljevid, ki nekaj pomeni
Tukwila is a place many people pass through, but those who live and work here know its river trails, hillside neighbourhoods and communities well. A map of it is a way to recognise a city that is often seen only from the freeway.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates to mark a home, a workplace or an arrival date in the Pacific Northwest. Noir suits the dense infrastructure, although all five styles come as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files in six sizes.
