Tulchyn Map Poster & Print
Tulchyn is a historic town in the Vinnytsia region of Ukraine, in the old land of Podillia. Its best-known landmark is the Potocki Palace, a large classicist residence built for the Polish magnate family in the late eighteenth century. On the map, the palace and its grounds form a big, symmetrical block that the rest of the town grew up around, with streets meeting its edges.
The town holds a notable place in Ukrainian music. The composer Mykola Leontovych taught in Tulchyn, and it was here that he worked on Shchedryk, the choral piece the English-speaking world knows as Carol of the Bells. In the early nineteenth century Tulchyn was also the base of the Southern Society of the Decembrist movement.
A Tulchyn map poster shows a small town with a clear sense of hierarchy. The palace complex reads as a formal, geometric mass, the old streets curve gently around it, and the newer parts of town form looser blocks further out. A small river and green spaces break up the linework, giving the composition some calm open areas.

River and green edges
A small river and adjoining green land run through the town, softening the street pattern and leaving open spaces in the drawing.
Historic street pattern
Older streets curve around the centre, while later districts spread outward in more regular blocks, a contrast that shows how the town grew.
