Tuscaloosa Map Poster & Print
Tuscaloosa sits on the south bank of the Black Warrior River in west-central Alabama, at the fall line where upland hills give way to the coastal plain. On a map the river sweeps past the city in broad curves, crossed by several bridges, while the downtown grid runs back from the bank in orderly rectangular blocks. Northport lies across the water.
East of downtown the University of Alabama takes up a large share of the city, its campus organised around the Quad and flanked by Bryant-Denny Stadium. North of the river, Lake Tuscaloosa spreads in long, branching arms through wooded hills, an irregular water shape that contrasts sharply with the city's straight streets.
Tuscaloosa served as the capital of Alabama from 1826 to 1846, and the ruins of the old capitol remain in a park downtown. A Tuscaloosa map poster makes a natural gift for graduates and football fans, but its river bends, campus lawns and reservoir give it plenty of interest even for people who have never attended a game.

The Quad
The historic heart of the University of Alabama campus is a broad lawn surrounded by academic buildings, appearing as a clear, calm rectangle among the campus roads.
Lake Tuscaloosa
North of the river, this reservoir winds through the hills in narrow fingers and coves, one of the most intricate shapes on the map.
