Named after a tree
The umburana, a caatinga tree valued for its fragrant wood and seeds, gives the town its name, a reminder of the vegetation that still surrounds its streets.

Umburanas Map Poster & Print
Umburanas is a municipality in the north-central interior of Bahia, in the semi-arid region of the Brazilian northeast. It takes its name from the umburana, a tree native to the caatinga. From above, the town appears as a small, orderly group of streets, clearly defined against the open countryside, with regional roads leading away toward neighbouring towns.
The landscape around Umburanas is dry scrub forest and farmland, with higher ground in parts of the municipality. On the map, the countryside is drawn with long dirt roads, occasional small reservoirs and scattered rural communities. Because the surrounding space is so open, the town's grid becomes the focal point, a compact block pattern in a wide field.
An Umburanas map poster is spare and graphic. The streets form a neat cluster at the centre, the roads stretch out in thin lines, and the empty space around them gives the image a sense of scale. It is a fitting portrait of a town in the Bahian interior and a meaningful piece for those who call it home.

Compact street grid
The town centre is a small grid of blocks with clearly defined edges, easy to read on the poster and set off sharply by the open land around it.
Roads through the interior
Regional roads and dirt tracks extend from Umburanas across the semi-arid countryside, linking the town with rural communities and neighbouring municipalities over long distances.
