Umm Ghuwaylīnah Map Poster & Print
Umm Ghuwaylīnah, as recorded here, lies in the Al-Shahaniya municipality in the interior of Qatar, west of Doha. The landscape is flat and open desert, and on a map the built environment appears as scattered clusters of compounds, farms and service roads connected by long straight highways.
Al-Shahaniya is best known across the Gulf for camel racing, and the municipality is home to a major racing track. The region is otherwise sparsely populated compared with the coast, with settlements, farms and infrastructure set far apart across the level terrain.
An Umm Ghuwaylīnah map poster is minimal by nature. Strong road lines, the outlines of compounds and wide blank spaces create a composition that feels closer to a drawing than a dense street map. The emptiness is part of the design and gives the print a calm, graphic quality.

Compound blocks
Walled compounds and farm plots appear as distinct rectangles set apart from each other, a characteristic pattern of inland Qatar.
Open ground
Large areas of flat desert surround the built areas, so much of the poster is quiet space, which suits a minimalist style well.
