River and lakes
The river widens into lakes and narrows again around the town, creating long, uneven shorelines. On the poster the water forms a large sculptural shape that frames the centre.

Vammala Map Poster & Print
Vammala is in the Pirkanmaa region of southwest Finland, on the waterways of the Kokemäenjoki river system. Since 2009 it has formed the centre of the merged town of Sastamala. From above, water sets the terms. The town is laid out along the shores of lakes and a flowing river, and roads and bridges carry traffic across the narrow crossings between them.
The area has a long history, and its medieval stone church of St Olaf in Tyrvää is one of the best known in the region, restored after a fire in the late 1990s. The town itself is modest in size. A compact centre sits beside the water, and residential streets fan out onto the surrounding higher ground, with forest and fields beyond.
A Vammala map poster makes the most of the Finnish lake landscape. Irregular shorelines, peninsulas and channels give the composition a strong, organic character, and the street network fills the dry land between them. It is a natural fit for anyone with ties to Sastamala or anyone who loves the shape of Finland's inland waters.

Bridges and crossings
Roads cross the water at narrow points, tying the town's shores together. These crossings are clear, distinctive details in any of the five styles.
Forest edge
Beyond the residential streets, the road network thins into forest and farmland, so the town fades gradually into open, quiet countryside.
