Venado Tuerto Map Poster & Print
Venado Tuerto lies in southern Santa Fe Province, in the flat, fertile pampas of Argentina. The land is so level that the city's plan shows almost no interference from terrain. Seen from above, it is a patient checkerboard of square blocks that extends in every direction and slowly loosens into farm tracks and field boundaries at the edges.
The town grew in the 1880s on land associated with the Irish-Argentine settler Eduardo Casey. Its name means 'one-eyed deer', from a local legend about the animal. It has long been connected with polo, and its surrounding estancias and agricultural economy still shape the region around the grid.
A Venado Tuerto map poster shows how clearly a planned pampas town can read from the air. Railway lines cut diagonally across the regular blocks, wider avenues mark the main axes, and plazas appear as small open squares at regular intervals. The result is calm and almost geometric, with the countryside's straight roads continuing the pattern beyond the last houses.

Railway diagonals
Rail corridors cross the grid at an angle, creating long diagonal lines and triangular leftover spaces that give the plan its distinct character.
Edge of the pampas
Beyond the built-up area, straight rural roads and rectangular field divisions carry the city's geometry out into open farmland.
